An Open Letter to Hillsdale College about the 1619 Project

An open letter to Hillsdale College, Imprimis Newsletter, Larry P. Arnn, Donald J. Trump and the 45th Administration of the United States of America.

This letter is being penned to speak to the controversy surrounding “The 1619 Project” and the response from the institutions and individuals mentioned above.

The engineered divisiveness now included in the conversation surrounding “The 1619 Project”; requires an equally institutional response to debate the premise of the narrative presented by the institutional opposition. While we wait on that, I have taken it upon myself to address the institutionally purported position against “The 1619 Project”. My offering to this cause was to enroll in the “Constitution 101” class offered by “Hillsdale College”. Due to the extremely biased nature of the content; the class proved unsustainable for my own psyche and mental health. Please allow my disclaimer to state emphatically that my familiarity with America does cause me to live with the thought this may be the best country to reside. I also offer; I am a woman with no heritage, history or cultural hierarchy i.e.,

  1. Land
  2. Language
  3. Culture

My full history was given, taught and enforced by colonizers and colonization. This is the arc of my commentary.

My name is MAKA TAYLOR; I am a natural born human living under duress in the United States of America. I am able to attest to the statement by way of specific interaction(s), lingering effects and basic epigenetic scientific fact. I speak to my natural born status only in light of my understanding of the Generational Institutional Systemic Marginalization experienced by me, my predecessors and my predecessors, predecessor.

Promoting narratives that are favorable comes with many benefits. We must also acknowledge the pitfalls in “crafting” a story after it has already happened.

Respectively, I would like you to hear me when I say; this is what this institutional pushback is. I am a very fair and learned individual; a non-traditional trajectory that has afforded me a wonderful perspective; with a touch of birds’ eye view.

The only way to “recover” from any ailment; the ailment must be directly acknowledged. There is no work around. No option to approach. The only way out is through. WHITE PEOPLE HAVE TO ACCEPT THE NATURE OF THEIR ANCESTORS>when thinking of these ancestors and entertaining the conversation of the”Constitution”… ASK YOURSELF — — -

  1. What was the status of the black(African) in America at that time/1619
  2. How could a black(African) use the “Constitution” to change their status?
  3. IF the Project is completely false in its premise — — What was the need for the “Drapetomania” diagnosis?
  4. How would America look if the African enslavement and American economy never met?

I implore you to think about these questions. Everything designated in this world I was born in was created from a time long before I took my first breath; in fairness — the individuals addressed in this letter are granted the same courtesy. However, the institutions that live and last and benefit the individuals while simultaneously; generationally, institutionally, systematically marginalizing: blacks, African American(s).

And really wtf is African American — it is not a geographic location. Erroneous — unless Africans…but that is something else.

When I read “The 1619 Project”; I understood it to be making a case to share the point that while the running narrative created a theory the North was more sympathetic and “caring” during those times. Ms. Jones made the point that the North benefited greatly from the enslavement and contributed in a manner that could be explained as “passive”. I really appreciated the deep connection the work took to make the connections of human trade to industry, institution and society.

Joe Biden found the moxie to say on a public platform; what being “black” is/was. This is how mutable a position the people I come from are. You do not know what it feels like to be “terrorized” by everyday life and unwritten rules relegated by a tell you can “Never” hide.

The Institutional Opposition errs on the wrong side of history in this matter. The people call upon you to respond to this letter and hold further talks with Mrs. Nikole Hannah-Jones or her cohorts. This is an educational moment. Imperialist ideology; placed aside presents an opportunity to hear and dispute; accordingly; information and subject matter expertise.

I find this minimal in prospect and hope to hear from you soon.
